Ok ... clearly the boredom had well and truly set in; why else would one go and photograph a bloody Holden?

In each of these images, I would consider cropping a little of the foreground. In the third of these, for instance, there's some tufts of grass and a patch of concrete in a similar plane to the front of the car. Crop out everything below those tufts of grass.

At that point you will have, I think, a better image in a portrait crop.

But now try this: also crop this image a little way above the car's roof, turning this portrait oriented image into a landscape one.

For each of these images, I would also be inclined to bump the level of sharpening that you're applying. I suspect that you're not adding any, and the images appear to me to be a tad soft. Be careful: you only need a little, but these do need just a nudge in that area.

I would also suggest that the white balance is wrong in at least one of the images. Either that, or you were really board and did a quick spray job on the car between the first and the second image.

That was my first reaction too. Then I thought maybe the first is a B&W conversion. There is not much colour there at all. However, now I am on my calibrated monitor, I can see there is a different cast to each of the last two as well. The third is slightly bluish compared to the second. AWB anyone?

The rubbish (BRHS) in the first doesn't help the image either. It would not have been out of place in the last though, as there is more of a "grunge" feel to the location there.

A slightly lower view point would also make these images stronger. The area around Port Adelaide has some great locations for these types of shots and you are using them, with a slight change in technique and using manual wb/exposures you will end up with some great shots. If you want you can organise a shoot with Doc, AdamE or myslef to show you some quick shooting and processing tips that will make a huge difference and no we wont give a rats about what car you want to shoot - it is the process we are interested in.

im getting some photos of a mates typhoon this thursday night so ill see how i go there.

i need to remember to bring some white paper so i can set the custom white balance.

Some relatively good shots there, as mentioned, the portrait shot could be a very good one if it was a landscape shot instead.

The photos seem to be very soft, although this could be due to compression and hosting.

The second could also benifit from a slightly lower point of view, getting that bit closer to the ground can give the impression the car is much lower than what it actually is (Although, i have seen the car, and i certainly wouldnt call it 4WD height )

In the first one, try shooting on the same side of the car that the light source is coming from too, the results can be hugely different! Just be aware of your shadow, its easier to move a little bit than to crop or clone out a shadow on the computer, and it saves a lot of time.

As Big V mentioned..... If you want to organise a meet, im sure there would be a few people keen to come along

no worries cool.

ill see how i go with all the feedback i have recieved so far, but a meet would be good so i can learn from those who already know what they are doing
