I like it marcus. Not often that you see a pensive expression in a portrait of such a young subject.
It's well suited to B&W, too.

Great exposure!
You have captured everything required without losing anything in highlights

Great shot Marcus,
It has a softness about it, which adds to it for me.
What lens and settings did you use ?
Beautiful shot, simply stunning.

Extrememely well done and a fantastic first post. You must be pleased. I hope the portrait is of your daughter since that one is worth treasuring for a long while.

Very nicely lit. If you have Photoshop or similar then maybe select the eyes and brighten up the whites just a tad...and then increase the contrast a little. The eyes just need that little extra. Oh, and hide the hotspot on the right eye, (her left), perhaps.

Add my plaudits as well. excellent lighting outcome. Think I will get that young daughter of mine and make her sit still for a moment to do the same.

Thanks for your comments stubbsy. Actually it's a shot of my next door neighbours daughter. I have 2 sons (6 & 11). I'm sure they will get a run on some posts soon ....they are already hassling me that the next door neighbours daughter is on here!
ps I don't mean any offence but you really look like a siamese cat (this is
according to my 11 year old).
regards
Marcus

OK, I'm no expert here but have managed to retrieve the following exif data:
Under common data says:
shot manual
70mm
f 4.5
Under advanced says:
10/200 (I guess thats 1/20th sec) Please help me here as I would love to learn.
I shot it from outside and lied down on the ground looking into my family room where my youngest son and Moniquie (the subject) were watching TV.
The angelic shot was taken during an episode of The Simpsons! The lighting was perfect and I shot a 2 auto exposures (no
flash) to work out the best exposure. I then manually compensated and took the photo.
The lens was 18-70mm lens kit.
Hope this is what you needed. I still have the original shot with all the data and can email it if required no probs.
thx marcus
ps Many thanks to all who have contributed a comment! Much appreciated.

She's a Burman, actually. - no offence taken.
How does your son cope with a dad from another planet?
