Also please note that, unless you state something to the contrary, other members might attempt to repost your image with their own post processing applied. We see this as an acceptable form of critique, but should you prefer that others not modify your work, this is perfectly ok, and you should state this, either within your post, or within your signature. Images posted here should conform with the general forum guidelines. XY GT FALCONwas out on a car cruise this arvo/night, had the camera in the car and i got a couple of photos this is the best one i think i took for the night.

Your photos make me dizzy to the point where i would rather turn my head to look at the image than see it the way you have taken it.. I use angles in alot my photo`s i take (I am working on portrait at the moment rather than automotive) and i think the words that were given to me is "Less is more". By straightening up the image it would allow viewer to enjoy the image rather than me trying not to fall out of my chair to view it. That and maybe the shot you took 5 seconds ago before the guy walked into the frame in the bottom left corner might have been a bit better? Nether less i downloaded it and straightened it up for my own viewing (Wont post it cause people don't like people editing their shots) and the focus on the car is rather good and it has a nice reflect line running along the body molding build into the door skins. I actually have a car shoot coming on a honda CRX of a friend which i will post after ive done, if i get the colour to reflect like in this i think i would be rather happy. But like i said. Maybe a little angle and not a huge one? 5 degree maybe? and I think GStark said in one of your other threads... Look in viewfinder.. have a good look around and see everything you are capturing before you take the shot. Regards Jay Edited for grammer and spelling

* Make it level * Get rid of the distractions in the background - other cars and the dismembered person * Make sure it is sharp - "351 - GT" is almost impossible to read * Improve the lighting so you get some detail in the dark areas such as the grill * Have the front wheels straight
Re: XY GT FALCONAs others have said, the angle is crazy, and overall, it looks soft. You need to keep an eye out for peripheral objects in the viewfinder, such as the bloke at the left and also the foreground is a little distracting. I agree with Andrew that it appears underexposed a little.

Just found a new respect for ozimax. Greater words have not been spoken. Carn the Holdens. I agree with the comments on the angle of item. If you were to keep the image angled I would run it parralell with the white line in the carpark. I believe you have used the lighting well to highlight the vehicle but also agree with the GT 351 comment. If this was crisp then I believe it would set the photo off. As far as the background goes I would have waited for the pedestrian to walk past but the two stooges in the carpark backdrop works for me and adds a sence of real world rather than a portrait shot of a car. Is disrespect a form of respect? As for improving the image ... first of all, a suitable substitution in this instance would be a Ferrari California. Not the new one, though. Not that I mind it, but the original one is just .... And yes, fitting the OP's camera with a spirit level. But I'm curious: why are people shooting at an angle in this manner? Is it an attempt to "be different"? When you shoot everything at an angle like this, where is the point of differentiation? Is it an attempt to be "arty"? It's not a technique, nor an attempted technique, that dictates whether an image is artistic: it's the content. And therein lies my message: focus on the content of the image. Get the basics right. Forget about trying to be "arty". Forget about trying to be "different". Get the basics right! The rest will follow. g.

Re: XY GT FALCONDont know about making it sharper, I can read the 351-GT easily enough, perhaps some degrading has occurred when making the image smaller to post?
I don't mind the angle. I think with a static car, you need to introduce something to it. Having it dead even would be boring, and I think I would say as much also. I think the angle is *maybe* to extreme, but it needs an angle there for sure. I dont think it has anything to do with being different, perhaps artsy, but only in so far as recognising that the images needs something. I agree about getting rid of the legs in the background though. I guess you stumbled across the car, so you had to shoot it in situ, which means putting up with the backgrounds etc. You could have tried for a shallow DOF, but then the ass end, or far side of the vehicle would be OOF also. If you were comfortable with PS, you could vignette the image to remove the detail from the background. If you find cars like this in future with crap backgrounds etc, rather than trying to get a whole car portrait, maybe try getting a series of detail shots, car lovers would know they came from a 351-GT without seeing the whole vehicle. 2x D700, 2x D2h, lenses, speedlights, studio, pelican cases, tripods, monopods, patridges, pear trees etc etc

the angle was like that to block out another car that had parked next to it, as it was from a car cruise we had alot of other cars there, and people aswell all walking around and talking so it was hard to single out one car and get a clear background. i do have some other pictures that i took of the day including some detail shots of certain parts on cars. here are two of them, although im not happy with how the gt-351 one turned out, it shows that i was trying to come up with the idea. and old fairlane, the background wasnt something that i wanted in a pic so i decided not to shoot the whole car. and the side of the gt this is why i had the angle on the gt, to block out this newer gt
Re: XY GT FALCONI may be completely wrong here but isnt the yellow GT that you had to shoot around in the first pic hence the angle of the shot the same car that appears to be in the background of the first first pic?
