This bird came within two meters of me when I was looking at a pioneer well in a national park - comments and identification welcome.

Looks like you managed to get nice and close. I think that the first one is out of focus slightly, this is improved in the second picture although it would be good to have a nice sharp, clear eye (easier said than done I realise). I think you have done very well, it is hard to capture birds in the heat of the moment (so to speak). I have no idea what sort of bird it is but the blue/purple eye is interesting.

'Tis a female Satin Bower Bird. The male is a glossy blue-black colour, but the eye gives it away.
Prefer the second of these two shots as the light is a bit kinder.
