We have my wife's mother visiting from Hobart for a couple of weeks, and she was
keen to have a look at the William Ricketts Sanctuary at Mt Dandenong.

Saturday was the perfect day for the mission, sunny and 24 degrees. Photography was
quite tricky with very dark areas and bright areas of sunshine coming through the trees.
Would probably be an HDR opportunity if you had a tripod with you (not entirely practical).
First time I have taken any shots for a while, so although they are not all that special,
here we go :D

William Ricketts sculpted mainly aboriginal figures and heads, and a few other things,
and placed them around the place in the bush. All very serene etc. There are 96 pieces
in all, and the beautiful surroundings compensated for a fair amount of sculptural
repetition. William lived to the ripe old age of 94.

Two treatments of the same shot to begin with. This looks fantastic in the thumbnail
in Bridge, but I have not been successful getting the full size image to look as good,
despite a few attempts - here are two of them.

This one reminded me of the Statue of Liberty....

One of several beautiful grottos, dark, cool mossy etc.

C&C welcome.

I went there once and I thought it was brilliant, but that was 30 years ago.
