I reckon they are very nice :D lovely puffy white clouds...I assume a polariser was used, they are both nicely composed imo. Both would make excellent desktop backgrounds!

I like both of these, #1 has great leading lines. #2 seems like you need another cloud top left, to balance the composition (just me). The texture in the field is really nice.

Thanks guys. Yep I used a polariser on both the shots to get that nice blue sky.
I see what you mean about that cloud, the big one above the tree would be better if it were more to the left of the frame to balance with the tree.

That firsd image really troubles me. There is so much to like about the shot - the framing is spot on, you have fantastic leading lines, the cloud is perched wonderfully - all in all it's an image that should sing to me and yet it doesn't. I think that the treatment just doesn't work for me. The sky is so dark it gives an alien feel to the shot and I'd actually like a little warmer image as well I think - but that's just me

Peter, it's the altitude AND the effect of the polariser that causes the dark sky. It does look odd though. Perhaps its because the foreground is brighter, which is kind of upside-down to what we would normally expect.

Still, I like both images.

:agree: Mabye try takeing the polarizer off if your aiming for a more natural look, tho i really like #1 and way that it makes the clouds stick out and highlights them.

I usually like the polariser for landscapes like this because the darker sky adds contrast and a bit of drama to the photo. Having said that, these are the first photos that I processed after getting my new monitor, and I was having trouble getting the colours on the first photo right. I think I might even need to go back to the RAW and adjust the WB.
