Apologies to anyone offended by such images but this is a common sight around Asia as many would know.

Original was taken in Laos a couple of years ago of a street vendor and her grand child selling all manner of items including what I think was flying fox carcasse.

I am just experimenting in CS3 and thought thought this crop and treatment gave a good juxtapostion (?) of the poor creatures final grimace and the cuddling granny. Maybe more DOF would have provided more of her facial features?

I agree with your comment about the depth of field. If the two people in the background were a little less blurred I think it would be more poignant.

Also, the head seems to overlay a pale strip (?a wall) - I think this detracts from the definition of the edges of the head.
