On the way up to Broken Hill to see Adam and was fortunate enough to capture some very close shots of a few wedge tailed eagles, these 2 shots appeal to me the most..Very trying conditions as it was 40 degrees at the time!

Both of these are fantastic shots!

#1 is an incredible frame, perfect timing on your part. On a slightly picky note, I find the copyright very distracting.

#2 the detail in the feet and tail is magical. The glow of the feather tips is also, for want of a better word, magical. Very nice work with an uncontrolled subject!

Great shots but they need an extra half stop of exposure. I always dial in +0.5 or more when shooting planes or birds against a bright sky. Another alternative is to switch to spot metering.

maybe a touch up with the shadows tool would help?

Ok taking the advice on board here we go with a change to the shadow highlight slider..see if it is better or worse.

IMHO the underside of the bird is now too light. Somewhere in between the two sets maybe?

OK, we will try this change then and see if any better...

Looks heaps better to me...if anything, still a tad too dark.

I like the 3rd set the best! Great work on the original shots though!

I reckon if you sample the blue sky and darken it a bit the bird will stand out even more.

Excellent shots, were these taken with 70-200mm?

They were taken with a Canon 1DMK111 and the 100-400mm at 400mm

Big V - after seeing the shots in camera on Friday night at the Adelaide Zoo, it is unbelievable what you have achieved, through the amount of cropping, together with sharpening and colour. Well done.
