Goanna vs. Bush TurkeyOk, firstly, if anyone can identify what type of goanna/monitor this is, I'd appreciate it
This lovely critter was around 1.2m in length...and very aware of what was going on and from all the bark scratch marks on the tree, you can tell he hangs around there a fair bit. It was just outside the Brisbane State Forest Information Centre which i'd dropped into to get some maps, etc.. anyway, enough jibber jabber! heres the pics! Ahhh this is the life, sunbaking, keeping up my body heat: Oh wait, wats this, Turkey! MmMm... here turkey turkey..: Take this Turkey! Don't make me Turkey slap you with my tail again!:

Re: Goanna vs. Bush Turkey good series.
I believe it is a lace monitor, Varanus varius. One of only two species found in SE Queensland. The other is Gould's goanna or sand monitor, V. gouldii but it looks different to the one in the pictures above.
Re: Goanna vs. Bush TurkeyAwesome. Thanks Guys!
