Well the first successful ones with this lens that is
picked this up on Thursday and after a short play took it with me the rodeo at Taralga on Sunday

Who hid the sugar in here ?

it was too hard to get action shots with the Lens baby, so I switched to the 70-200 for the more traditional type of shot

I picked up my one from

Digital Camera Warehouse
174 Canterbury Rd
Canterbury NSW 2193
Ph: 1300 365 220

I bought the composer model http://www.digitalcamerawarehouse.com.au/prod1916.htm

It comes with the double glass optic as standard so I haven't tried (or know what is) the zone plate
and yes you can get it in Nikon f mount or canon's mount

see here for the accessories you can get

If you want to have a play with my one before you buy let me know

Keith

The zone plate is a pin hole unit that gives very soft focus.

yes the wide angle adapter fits... I tried it out at the shop but held off buying it till I see how much I like the basic lens

I tried this one as it is also a macro adapter http://www.digitalcamerawarehouse.com.au/prod2094.htm

Are images such as #1 & #2 typical for the lens baby or was it used deliberately to create the blur effect?

I haven't really had the lens long enough to say that these are typical
but the lens comes with interchangeable aperture disks (from no disk f2 through to a f22 disk in one stop steps)
the wider the aperture the greater the blur effect, these were shot at f2.8 but I have seen image with very little blur compared to these
so far I have only shot f2- f4 but will have a bigger play with the lens this weekend and spend more time seeing what it will do rather than trying to capture any usable images as such
