Nice sharp shots John, with a lovely bokeh. You should be very happy with your new acquisition. These photos show your camera/lens combination is capable of producing very pleasing images.

May I suggest a few ideas for improving your photos? Firstly, consider your light. The light in all of these portraits is harsh and unflattering. At midday, take your model into the shade, or better still, take your outdoor images in the early hours of the morning, or the late hours of the afternoon. When using flash, take it off the camera. There's tonnes (yes, we're metric now) of useful info at sites like strobist. You'll see an immediate improvement in the quality of your photos.

Secondly, try to remove distractions from your photos. All of these portraits have distracting elements in the background that take the viewer away from the subject. You may also consider changing the orientation of your camera to a portrait format for photos like these, instead of a landscape orientation where there's lots of empty space to the side of the image that don't contribute in any meaningful way.

Enjoy the new lens. 8)
