The echidna came out well. I would have liked to see more detail in the face but I know how the conditions were so I can understand.

What lens were you using for the other three. They all look great small, but the large versions all show distortion and/or aberrations towards the edges. In the last one mozzie looks all distorted.

Some possible explanations from EXIF:
# Camera Model = Canon EOS 400D DIGITAL
# Exposure Time (1 / Shutter Speed) = 1/8 second = 0.125 second
# White Balance = auto (0) Not an issue per se but indicates camera was making decisions not photographer
# Focal Length = 10/1 mm = 10 mm

Hey,

Thanks for comments!

Apart from first image I was using Sigma 10-20mm, which would explain the distortion. And a few of them are HDR, either using Photometrix, or just blending layers in Photoshop.

Cheers,
GK

That could explain why the shot with Mozzie has some rocks on the left nice and clear but the right a bit out of it.
I like the echidna shot.

Thanks for sharing these. #2 is the standout for me - I really like the "neat and in the middle" composition".

GK #2 and #3 are well composed and colourful images that seem to handle the high contrast rang evident in shaded forest quite well. Good job.
cheers
