I can tell that these shots are not yours Matt, but who is moi?

#1 - fill flash would have been good

#2 - spot metering might have helped

#3 - hmm!

#3 - nice exposure

I like the shot of Jack, although it does show what difficult lighting conditions up with which we had to put. ;)

The lyrebird probably needed a bit of fill flash.

The third one doesn't grab me.

The fourth one is a great use of light and colour.

They're certainly very different from Matt, but in these images, he's playing with the light, the shadows ... interference with the primary image subjects, really.

How come I always end up in a few shots every meet?

#2: It looks like you have some lens flare or something happening there on the bird?

#3: I wonder what this would be like in B&W?

#4: I like

Jack

I quite like the shot of Jack - I think the reflected light and the play of light and shade workes here. #4 is the real star though - the play of light, shade and colour in that (and spot on exposure) really make for a great abstract.

I agree #$ is a great image Matt. The backlighting and your composition suits to a tee. I also like the dappled light in #1 and i think the paly with patterned leaf shadows works a treat in #3.
cheers
