And the third too.

In the first two images though, I find the positions taken by the subjects/photographers to be of interest. From a photographer's perspective, their hand placements on the cameras is good, as is their placement of their left elbow onto their knee for added stability of the camera "platform".

The problem though is that by squatting in the manner that they have, they have taken up an inherently unstable position from which to make their images, and basically, all of the otherwise good technique has been negated.

Alex: were these in Thailand? There are no beaches in Melbourne, are there? :)

I agree that the second shot is an absolute corker, and the bw treatment is beautifully done :)

Gary - I work with and am friends with a lot of people of asian descent, and trust me - when they squat they are more stable than when I stand !!!

Thanks all for the comments. I thought you'd find these amuzing.

Gary - Yes, it was in Thailand. These photographers and myself would be locked up (or at least 'moved on') if it was an Australian beach.

Cheers

Those of us who grew up in a culture where the chair is king are unable to get into this very stable position. Note that they are flat on their soles. If a westerner tries to get into a similar position, we end up on the balls of our feet. a much less stable position. We lose the flexibility necessary quite early in life.

I only just noticed, only one of the girls in image #2 and #3 is common, there is a total of 4 different photogs here!
