This is the blue spotted hawker, or Aeshna brevistyla. It had just finished snacking on an insect, and rested for a minute on some vegetation - very cool dragonfly, but bloody quick and hard to catch, so I was happy to get some shots :)

I am going to be the dissenting voice here. I like the framing, but I find it more like a drawing than a picture. Maybe the edges are is too sharp or the colours are too bright, but somehow I find it un-natural. However, if you like it and the others voicing their opinions above do too then I am outnumbered.

Hi zafra52 , I know what you mean, but that is how the shot worked out, so that's what I went with :)
And that is the beauty of this site - honest feedback, which is how it should be :)

Thanks for the feedback guys - I've been slack on the posting and feedback front - been running around like a headless chook too much - but hopefully will be able to get myself into gear and be a bit more active :)

Thanks again
Hugs
Rel :)

I can see hairs on the legs and texture on the wings, you've done well to capture it so clearly, especially when knowing the thing's about to flit away again any moment! I like how vivid it is - did you do anything to this after taking it, or is this pretty much what you got? What lens did you use? You've some great shots on your site, love the tree frog!
