Lucas was enjoying it so the little so-and-so wouldnt look at the camera. not even blowing raspberries would get his attention. :x

remember that great memories don't need to be perfect photos - this shows his personality and your great relationship - Oh and the sunset is nice too

I reckon this one is pretty spot on, but it is all perspective based! Really good exposure on this one, perfectly lit, really shows what you can do with a decent flash. 8)

Chris,

A true arm's length image.

Was the flash set to full power? I think that the image may have benefited from about 2/3 less EV on the flash than what's there now.

Otherwise, Deb has perfectly summed up my thoughts on this image.

gary, yes, i agree its a little hot. if i was doing this properly i would have set myself up much better with an sb900 at least. as it was, just using ttl with an sb400. the poor little flash had a 3m high pale blue ceiling to bounce off on the balcony and it was tilted so i'm surprised it generated the image at all. holding the cam one handed wrestling with lucas to try and get him to face the camera...ay yay yay !! lol

still was a bit of silliness that makes me smile. glad you guys can appreciate it for what it is. :)

If by "properly" you mean trying to get the lighting right, getting the pose "just so", metering the sunset, the fence, and yourselves, not to mention setting the camera up on a tripod to make sure that everything is straight, then you simply would not have this shot.

And in that instance, we would all be that much poorer, and none moreso than yourself.

This image has intimacy, and it's spontaneous!

By doing it as you had, you have the shot, and this is one that is irreplaceable.

And isn't that the real reason why we're all here?

Love it... Would like to see the exif as well. I have noticed that many people don't have their EXIFs showing which may be their choice. There is setting when exporting from lightroom (bottom of export dialog box which says minimise data or something, which seems to munch up the EXIFs though. I had to adjust this recently as it seems to be on by default...

surenj, i have no idea why the exif is blocked. as i said its all on the flickr page. does the board block exif when you upload photos ?

this picture is from smugmug? maybe the upload process has stripped it? Flickr now shows the exif data on all my pictures, i do recall quite awhile ago it used to strip the exif also.

shit, you;re right. it is from smugmug cos on flickr the image size is too big for the board. (1000px) so obviously smugmug blocks it.

Smugmug doesn't include the EXIF in the resized images. It's there if you go to the original image:

# Exposure Time (1 / Shutter Speed) = 5/300 second = 1/60 second = 0.01667 second
# Lens F-Number/F-Stop = 45/10 = F4.5
# Exposure Program = aperture priority (3)
# ISO Speed Ratings = 400
# Original Date/Time = 2009:05:02 18:36:36
# Exposure Bias (EV) = -6/6 = -1
# Max Aperture = F2.83
# Metering Mode = center weighted average (2)
# Light Source / White Balance = flash (4)
# Flash = Flash fired, compulsory flash mode, return light detected
# Focal Length = 14/1 mm = 14 mm
# Colour Space = sRGB (1)
# Exposure Mode = auto exposure (0)
# White Balance = manual (1)
# Focal Length in 35mm Film = 21
# Scene Capture Type = standard (0)
# Gain Control = low gain up (1)
# Contrast = normal (0)
# Saturation = normal (0)
# Sharpness = hard (2)
