Off Shore Power Boats Part 1

I had the pleasure of spending the weekend up in Newcastle with Stubbsy playing the ever gracious host. Other then eating like kings and visiting Port Stephens and Nelsons Bay, we took in the action of the Off Shore Power Boats. These were all shot with the D200 and Nikon 24-70 2.8. After a while all the photos were looking a little sameish, so I've done my best to present a bit of a mix, but given I'm no sports photographer I'm eager for some feedback. At a top speed of over 200km/h, they are moving fast so I tried my best at panning, which meant my keeper rate was around 15-20% (as far as subject in focus).

Great result with such a short lens, you must have been close to the action. #3 is the best to me as you are close to the subject, which is sharp, but you still show the speed.

Nice panning. I would blur the backdrop even more
