Honesty is encouraged, but please be positive in your constructive criticism. Flaming and just plain nastiness will not be tolerated. Please note that this is not an area for you to showcase your images, nor is this a place for you to show-off where you have been. This is an area for you to post images so that you may share with us a technique that you have mastered, or are trying to master. Forum rules
Please note that image critiquing is a matter of give and take: if you post images for critique, and you then expect to receive criticism, then it is also reasonable, fair and appropriate that, in return, you post your critique of the images of other members here as a matter of courtesy. So please do offer your critique of the images of others; your opinion is important, and will help everyone here enjoy their visit to far greater extent.

Also please note that, unless you state something to the contrary, other members might attempt to repost your image with their own post processing applied. We see this as an acceptable form of critique, but should you prefer that others not modify your work, this is perfectly ok, and you should state this, either within your post, or within your signature.

Images posted here should conform with the general forum guidelines. Image sizes should not exceed 950 pixels along the largest side (height or width) and typically no more than four images per post or thread.

Please also ensure that you have a meaningful location included in your profile. Please refer to the FAQ for details of what "meaningful" is.

Hi John,

I like the image a lot, and not knowing the motivation or purpose behind it, I'm not sure if my following critique will be on the mark or not, so please bear with me.

Firstly the lighting is great, nice and soft, interesting catch light in the eye, minimal shadows.
I find her lips a little distracting as they look OOF not due to the DOF which they would be, but rather subject movement if that's possible but if not then the shallow DOF is being kind to her lips?

More really nitpicky things - her eyebrow looks too sharp its distracting I'd blue it a little as its stealing focus from the eye. the fact she has big eye lashes on top but not on the bottom bothers be a little but not too much, the parts of her complex that are in focus show the make-up and again I be inclined to blur it a little more.
I also fine the couple of fine nasal hairs a little distracting but I'm taking the pedantic thing too far (again my opening comment, not sure what your purpose of the shot was) so this could be well off the mark.

Hope you take the comments in the spirit that they were written. I like the shot, but it suggests glamour / magazine ad to me hence the feedback.

Out of interest what lens did you shoot this with ?

I like the concept, agree with Alpha's comments as well. Would love to see a tight crop of the eye though.

Is there much post processing done??

Perhaps because both the lips and nose are very close to the bottom left, I find it helps to crop in at the top by about a third of the distance between the top of the eyebrows and the top of the frame.

Murray

I quite like it as it is. It could be used for a cosmetic ad.

Nice image. I would whiten the teeth [and maybe adjust them so that there are less gaps]. If you were using this for glamour then I guess the nose hairs have to go.

The makeup on her nose looks a little crusty as well?

Barry, This one was shot for the "crusty make up lovers magazine"

To be serious, nice photo and touchup! Does the model like it?
