Hi all, I've just got back from my trip to Mull. Not the best visit in terms of weather (5 out of 7 days with full on wind and rain) but I managed to get a few shots in the brief spells of ok weather - mostly stock shots, although my main species to photograph was Otters and in that respect the holiday was a great success!

Thanks for sharing some more beautiful shots of British wildlife.
The otters in particular are stunning, and the adverse weather enhances the shots for me.

I really enjoy your blog, for both the wonderful pictures and the great stories, I was literally cringing at the thougth of your new tripod crashing on the rocks, but I'm glad you aren't sharing pictures of the inside elements of a 600mm prime. Getting so close to the otter, and having it seemingly unaware of you, and just doing its thing is incredible.

I thought the otter in the rain on the seaweed was particularly evocative - the one you offered the larger image of. I bet that makes a great print.

The whole account was very well done too, an enticing tempter for if I ever get there....

Great shots and i like the third (maybe some sort of gannett?) the best.

Maybe try a tight crop on his head/face as there is such strong eye contact.

I'm with Robert on this, although I think that that perhaps back off on the sharpening just a tad: there appears to be some haloing along the lower edge of the bird's body.

I also like the last image very much as well. It's very well composed, and great use of the shutter to capture the falling rain in the background, while still getting a sharp image of the bird on the wire/

Regarding the Gannet, I think your right, I didn't spot the slight halo before!! The problem with this image as well is it's just lost on the web size and all the detail is hidden. But as the shot was about the shape of the bird in the air, cropping in tighter to see the face detail didn't seem right so I left it how it is. The print will look nice though, thats for sure
