Walking thorugh the Adelaide Botanic Gardens today, I noticed a show going on - local bloke Denis Sheridan was belting it out in front of a big band -

And gave a stirring rendition of New York, New York (with a slightly bewildered chorus line)

I like the expression you caught in the first pic. Nice to see the kids in the second. Looks like you were shooting in harsh light as some of the highlights are blown.

You're not wrong about the lighting - blazing sunshine! Hard to manage, especially with digital. Unfortunately the high compression I used for the web makes the highlights look a lot worse than the "real" pictures, but you get that....

Hi Nick,
Just wondering which highlights u see blown on your monitor? The only I can see is in the 2nd image with the little girl's white t-shirt. Cheers,

Geoff.

Geoff - In the first image the shadecloth in the background and the guys hands look blown. Maybe it's just my monitor as it's getting quite old...

digitor,

Firstly, nice shots: the trusty Sigma 12-24 at work again.

It was truly a magnificent day in Adelaide, especially for a walk into Town I presume via the Botannic Gardens. BTW: did you and Vicki join in on the chorus :?: .

Call me next time, as I luv Jazz Music ie. Louis Armstrong, Ella Fitzgerald and more recent Diana Krall :D .

ta ta for now,

Heh, cool. I was there today. There was a bunch of us mucking around on the lawn. I saw a few photographers around. I suspected one of them might be a D70users member.
Dennis sure loves to go for a walk with his wireless mic. I didn't feel like chasing him so I left my cam in its bag. Good thing someone was on the job :) .

Thanks Fozzie, actually it was the kit lens this time! Unfortunately, we couldn't find the energy for a can-can, so we just sat under a tree most of the time!

I'll keep it in mind re the jazz.
