Look up, look down

What a difference your viewing angle makes. It's always a good idea to check a few different aspects. I know flowers are a cliche, but on the positive side, at least it's not cats or ducks.

I like the second one just goes to show what a change angle will do.

A good example of composition Trevor. The second is far superior because there is more separation between the flowers and the sky due to the lighter and less busy background.

I like the first simply because the flowers are better defined and more in their own element :D

I think I also prefer the first one.

The second one seems a bit unreal. The cut flowers arranged against the sky like that almost say 'photoshop' and I start looking for the evidence even though I'm sure it's not and you took them against that background.

If you really 'look up' you can get some interesting shots. I took a few in a Canola field last year, here is one looking up

Yes, it's interesting, isn't it!

My wife thinks the second one looks artificial too, and she prefers to see more of the bloom as you see in #1.

On the other hand, I prefer #2. I think it has a more open and brighter look to it. It sort of captures a spring feeling, even though it isn't spring.

Both pix were taken in the same location, obviously shooting the same flowers, and the same dual flash lighting setup. The backgrounds are completely natural and untouched in PP. I've only done some sharpening and increased the clarity a tad in LR.

Thanks for looking and your comments.
