I don't know why you didn't score even one comment on these images in 24 hrs. It's a good selection of images IMO. I saw them yesterday morning but was too busy to stay on the forum for too long.

If I had to pick one of the four as a favourite it would be #3, with little Lucas running past the camera. Just the right exposure on him, with the Honl grid doing a great job of highlighting him against the background.

It seems that you have the LX-3 working well with the Nikon flash. Are you using manual settings?

Anyway, lovely photos.

Thank you for sharing your pics with us. They are all very good and quite diverse in techniques, which might be why you had no comments. As far as composition is concerned I think the last one is quite interesting with a great depth of field. The pic with running boy, I believe it would have been better with a shallower depth of field (smaller aperture) to avoid the distracting background, but rather than blurring I would crop as much as possible to see if it works better. Then again, perhaps you like it as it is becasue you see the boy running from the swing and the image istself is telling a story. The other two are, I believe, good as they are and need no more fixing. In fact, I would love to get those kind of pictures myself.

I don't know what Chris thinks, but I think that the background isn't distracting. Rather, I think the image would be less complete without the swing and the toy in the back yard.

the green colourbond fence is the only thing i dislike about the background. i would have liked less dof, but thats the price you pay for using a compact like the lx3, even at large apertures, (i think this is f2 or 2., theres still a hell of alot of the frame in focus.

I'm a little confused as to exactly what this gaffer taped wonder is for? I'm assuming it's some sort of flash diffuser? - keen to know more though
edit: a bit of a google and things made much more sense... hmm might have to give these a try
