A walk in the park

Well, now that little miss has worked out that the most efficient way of raising mummy and daddy's heartrate is to LEARN HOW TO WALK, she is getting into all sorts of mischief.

We needed to get out of the house for a bit on Sunday so we brought her to Nurragingy Reserve in Doonside - beautiful spot by the way, for anyone looking for more locations. We just let Phoebe run riot and I stood aways with a D300 and 70-200VR. No flash in any shots as I was pretty far away, and she could be relied upon to NOT stand near a remote flash!! It's always much nicer getting photos on location or with a nicer background - so many of our shots in the last few months have had a delightful "messy living room with toys strewn about the place" feel about them.

Some of my favourites below, I would appreciate some feedback if you have some. The model is of course outstanding, any issues with the photos lie solely behind the camera :)

For this one, I was going for a grungy, grainy look - like the old timey photos of kiddies. I thought the pose of her looking at her shoes suited it.

As is traditional, the best pose often happens in front of the least interesting background :) I think there's nice movement in the dress, good pose and expression - luckily the sun helped me out with a touch of backlighting on the hair.

I don't know about this one. I wanted to get the waterfall in the background somehow, but I'm not sure about the cropping. Hard to give direction too, it was interesting enough for Phoebe's handler to stop her running headlong TOWARDS the water!

I don't think I've posted since she turned one, so for your further amusement, I put together a photo slideshow of her best shots over her first year here -> http://losfp.smugmug.com/gallery/486628 ... UsKtK-A-LB

Some lovely images in the slide show, and more importantly plenty of memories, it was hard to pick a favourite, but the partial de-stat with Phoebe on the stairs is just gorgeous, deserves to be printing huge and on a wall.

Phoebe is gorgeous Des, I think you've managed to capture her very well - esp the 2nd photo, the dull background i think actually enhances the photo - certainly focuses on Phoebe - esp that childlike expression that only young children can give you. Unfettered, free, and not weighed down by the world's woes.

I also especially liked how she was patting you on the head in your video - "Giddy up daddy, giddy up!" :D

Hey Craig - this one?

Image

Yep, that one is a favourite, and I actually used it on her first birthday party invites :)

Thanks for the kind comments.
