Rainy day and a 50mm lensAs I mentioned in another thread, I "forced" myself to shoot with only my 50mm lens today (one which has not really even been used since I purchased the gear and I felt the need to familiarize myself with). I'm planning on using only this lens for a couple of weeks (at least) to really get a feel for it as the clarity of a prime lens like this (and the faster speeds) has been quite an eye opener for me.
Also attempted some portraits of the kids- but nothing I'm happy enough with to post just yet - but I really like the 50mm as a portrait lens! A couple of shots from the Australian Garden in Cranbourne, Vic http://www.rbg.vic.gov.au/australian_garden taken in between bursts of rain and trying to keep the kids on the paths (i.e. off the garden beds) f/13 1/90 sec ISO100 some post to aid with the overall contrast and saturation of the pic f/1.4 1/125 sec ISO100 Vivitar 2xteleconvert attached (yeah ok... I cheated a bit) No post processing C&C welcomed Canon EOS50D, 17-40mm f4 L USM, 24-105mm f4 L IS USM, 50mm f1.4 USM, 28-80mm f3.5-5.6, 70-300mm f4-5.6 & various other bits

Re: Rainy day and a 50mm lensI love my 50mm it really makes you think before you click. Some nice work there, I like the flowers, but the colours seem a bit dull (could be this crappy monitor though)

Re: Rainy day and a 50mm lensThe 2nd shot looks a bit underexposed.. when I look at it, I feel sad... nice effect if that was your intention!
