Rainy day and a 50mm lens

As I mentioned in another thread, I "forced" myself to shoot with only my 50mm lens today (one which has not really even been used since I purchased the gear and I felt the need to familiarize myself with). I'm planning on using only this lens for a couple of weeks (at least) to really get a feel for it as the clarity of a prime lens like this (and the faster speeds) has been quite an eye opener for me.
Also attempted some portraits of the kids- but nothing I'm happy enough with to post just yet - but I really like the 50mm as a portrait lens!
A couple of shots from the Australian Garden in Cranbourne, Vic http://www.rbg.vic.gov.au/australian_garden taken in between bursts of rain and trying to keep the kids on the paths (i.e. off the garden beds)
f/13
1/90 sec
ISO100
some post to aid with the overall contrast and saturation of the pic
f/1.4
1/125 sec
ISO100
Vivitar 2xteleconvert attached (yeah ok... I cheated a bit)
