I think it looks great. Those sharks certainly look quite intimidating. I'm also not sure about the black bars. If your aim was to mimic a frame from a movie you then definately achieved that. It could quite easily be used as a publicity shot for the next Jaws installment. The green tones really give the image a very eerie feeling.

cam, green was just from using cloudy WB. (by mistake) lol

i kinda like the black bars for some reason...what if i made em smaller, is that a good compromise ?

very nice results, sometimes mistakes are for the good. I like the green, but do you mind doing a red version??? I like the bars, the smaller ones a little more than the bigger ones.

Great image, very atmospheric and I don't mind the cinematic letterbox style.

Awesome cinematic feel! Love it! As Cameron has said, red may be more menacing.

I find them disconcerting - my eye is not sure whether to look outside them or inside them. However, I think just get rid of the bottom one and keep the top one and keep it wide. Then it seems as though that may be the water level and it becomes more mysterious.

I think it's good as it is. Cropping in in this case would reduce the menace. - The sharks are coming! How far away are they? How long do we have?

Great image.

I don't think it would benefit from cropping. There is visual interest around the edge of the frame as it is. Having the sharks lit and then a significant dark area around them adds to the atmosphere I think.

I tend to agree with the above. I suggest you crop on the centre and leave out what they look like converging tubes. See if the image improves either with a vertical or square format.

thanks all for the suggestions. what i was going for here is atmosphere and that blurry, back of your mind, dreamy, nightmare kind of look, (which is why i also added a fair degree of GB to make it slightly OOF). the cinematic crop worked for me cos it reminds me of a clip from a movie.

some feedback for the feedback. ...have tried the tighter crop as suggested and i have some nice images of the sharks much closer and in great detail and to me they are just nice pics of sharks but they didnt have the atmosphere i was after in this shot. next time i go i'll be taking a strobe with me for sure to isolate stuff much better.

the fact that some people like it, some don't and some think a different interpretation would work better is what i really joined the forum for way back when...just nice to have some discussion on an image, so thank you.
