Last weekends wedding

Hi Guys.

It's been close to a year since my last post here - other interests had taken precedence for a while. Anyway last weekend I found myself taking photos for my sister-in-law's wedding so I found myself needing to remember what I used to know about taking photos. Turns out I didn't remember everything, but photoshop helps after-the-fact.

The main reason for posting is to publicly thank mr killakoala for his generosity in loaning me thousands of dollars worth of equipment. It's so greatly appreciated. I was determined to use my existing lenses, but once I put the 28-70 on my camera I didn't want to take it off.

... and I figured while I'm here, I may as well post an image from the day. The weather was rainy, the light was poor, and I was stressed. The majority of shots required a long shutter speed. This image was a 1.3 second exposure, so credit to the bride for staying so still.

Cheers,
Owen.

Hi Owen,
This is a nice soft shot, nice effect. I think it would look good with a black frame.
What camera are you shooting with/were you shooting with on the day?
Might have helped to bump up your ISO a bit to enable a faster shutter speed? Food for thought anyway.

Howdy Geoff.

I'm still shooting with a D70 - i was really scared that it would choose to break halfway through the wedding, but it kept going strong.

Looks like I shot this at ISO 200, I was flicking it around all day, but I think in this shot because it was so dark I was concerned with the banding that might show up at a higher ISO.

Cheers,
Owen.

I can understand why you didn't want to pop the ISO up a bit more then.
Also - it needs to be rotated a few degrees clockwise...

I agree - Rotate it to get those stairs horizontal and this will be a winner.

Very nice shot!
I quite like the light composition and colour.

Howdy chaps.

You know, a crooked image is usually the first thing I spot, but I was so absorbed in the rest of the processing involved in this that I completely overlooked the crooked-ness of it!

Thanks for the advice, here's a straighter and slightly cropped version. I think it looks much better.
