Darling Harbour - Mini "lonely" meet

I turned up to the Darling Harbour PMA meet one hour late. I couldn't get hold of anyone so assumed that people had set off and switched their phones off! Was there a mini meet at all?

I still ran around getting some images prior to attending PMA at 2pm. (I registered as the general public)

Here is a panorama stitch that I tried.
There is about 12 images handheld, Mild HDR, curves HDR etc

As always your critique is much appreciated.

I arrived at 2pm so didn't meet for the mini-meet.

Very nice panorama, although I think there are sections which are over-exposed. Particularly the top left.

i was there from about 4:30pm onwards - i have pm'd my number for future reference.

Do you have a link to a larger version of your pano, at 12 images I think its strengths are going to be in its size! I do like the sky on the right hand side, but since Reschsmooth has pointed out the blown bit on the left, maybe cropping it out might work, keep the needle in though. I actually like the nice bright whites of the posts on the right!

Thanks Patrick and Gerry,

I think the JPEG processing made the highlights blown. The poles were overexposed on purpose (to get maximum dynamic range but I forgot to pull it back later!) So they look a little 255 white

Here is a link with the JPEG maximum quality compression at 1000 pixels wide. Warning 650kb.

These image really come to life if you have them printed very large. They then reek of quality. Nice work. PS...PM sent.

Hey Surenj, that second version looks a treat - just for amusement purposes I downloaded it and pulled out a bit of the light on the bottom LHS. When lookign at the original I felt that area was a little dark, just my opinion of course and I do have my monitors set quite dark which can influence it too! but let me know what you reckon.

In any case I reckon that second version is ripe!

Thanks Matt and Gerry,

I can see the 'light'! I have the original PSD file so will make another curves adjustment. Do you normally use curves on a luminosity layer? [i am never sure what the best way to brighten an image? Curves or levels]

I use CaptureNx for 90% of my stuff, in this particular case I just used the gradient select tool at an angle from the bottom LHS of the picture then applied D-lighting, however using brightness would have achieved the same effect probably. You can be guaranteed if i have tweaked it I have not done more than a couple of steps at the best!

In captureNX you can adjust the levels&curves and get the exactly same effects as D-lighting....but all this probably dont help ya since your using PS :surrender:

Thanks Gerry. Maybe I need to update to the new lightroom. I think it can do local adjustments.
