I have only put up a few of this years fungi pics.
It has been pretty much all I have been photographing lately.

At Wentworth Falls Lake. My daughter spotted these for me.
Am I teaching her bad habbits? :mrgreen:

This is Cortonarius rotundisporus, also growing around Wentworth Falls Lake this year.

Your everyday Fly Agaric.
These grow in association with pines and some other european deciduous trees.
My daughter knows not to touch these as they are poisonous.

Something to brighten your day? Some of these are such vibrant colours.
Rainy day on the Newnes Plateau.

I really like this one, great colours and the background is very complimentary - also very appropriate with the pine needles given its typical location! :cheers:

not to touch these as they are poisonous.

definitely getting out and about colin, great to see some images from your travels! I reckon that Fly Agaric is a cracker, the foreground and background are great!

The Cortonarius rotundisporus is also neat but the shadow takes away from the image imo.

The water I carry is for me to drink Shane, most of the time. :mrgreen:

I generally give some brush work with a stick or whatever is handy. I don't mind it a bit contrived.
I get out when I can Gerry. I have only just been to your site and see that you also like to get amongst it.
I'll drop you a note next time I am looking at a decent outing.
The shadow is due to being to lazy to organise off camera flash set ups. If it is not an orchid then my mates give me the hurry up too.

So I guess your daughter has been helping you spot these fungi? Great shots, I really love the colour and all the interesting tid bits of info that you provide with your work.

yeah that would be awesome - even a trip up into the mountains to show us your good spots would be a treat!

my mates give me the hurry up too.

I know the feeling! the petti-coat government is always telling me to hurry up!

ummm...holy crapola - your description the other night at the PMA minimeet just did not do that series justice in terms of quantity and diversity, not to mention quality

its hard to pick the better ones, i suspect for you the better ones are the harder to find and rarer species, however I did take to the 'COL_3632 sml', 'COL_3493 Omphalina sp sml' (love the colour contrast in this one) and 'COL_3914 sml' that ones looks like a little dessert with a sprig of salad! :cheers:

I love the 3rd and 4th, Colin, especially the 3rd one. The first 2 look sort of "wrong", especially the first one, because of the lighting. The first one the lighting is coming from below and it looks like it was lit with artificial light.

If only I could identify them I have strayed from my area of expertise a little with Fungi.
Another hassel is that about half of Australia's fungi aren't described. You also need to do to much , for a lazy sod like me, to get a decent identification. Plants are heaps easier to work with.

Thankyou Andrew,I need to start looking at my lighting more. I might try one of the ring attachments that Poon had at PMA and see how that goes.
