The Gellibrand River - below Stevenson Falls

Taken in the Otways in Victoria
I really enjoy this style of photography. Shot them using 17-55mm F2.8 at about F20-F22 + circ pol filter.

My first impression was "great", but after looking at them a wee while, something niggled at me. I think it is because the water is flowing out of the frame, taking my eye with it.

I like the three of them. The only coment I have to make it is that if the three pictures were in a portrait format you could combine them to make a very nice tryptic.

They are nice...but Greg is correct the water does lead the eye out of the image.
HOWEVER I love the greens!

I love milky water, and you didnt blow the whites too much either - good stuff.

I think the composition in the second is the strongest.
Long exposures of moving water just have somthing about them.
You don't normally mind geting wet so maybe next time you could move into the middle of the river to get the flow coming at you?

Hi,
the first is an excellent calendar/poster candidate - you/ve got the water just right in all shots. I'f you get back there try some more shots from a different perspective perhaps showing the water as a leading line to something

I was actually in the middle of the river for the last two of these shots (yes it was cold but I was prepared). I will just have to turn the camera around next time

I have found the cir polariser great for this type of shot - I find you consistently have to bump the contrast when using it though, I think your images are quite ok in that respect though. Was there any reason why you went for f2.8? I imagine you where using a tripod in the creek... I think the last image is the strongest of the bunch, mainly due to the "rock" solid subject
How are you finding the 17-55 for this kind of work?
