Anyone for cake?

So with my better half out to dinner with her girlfriends, I donned the apron, raided the fridge & pantry and made a little dessert. Choc-Cherry cake. As is only appropriate in these situations, it was accompanied by a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

Apparently, it's quite acceptable...
So here's what I know:
The colour on these is "a bit warm". I don't have Photoshop and have been editing mostly in Canon's DPP software. Although there is "click WB", how do I correct without a decent reference? I'm gathering that this is where a "grey card" falls into the equation?
Does Canon's DPP calibrate to a grey reference?
