Nice sharp shots, well lit indeed.
I'd love to know more about the lighting setup or how you achieved these great results. Obviously you told the car to stay very very still :D

Lovely.

And thanx, everyone, for coming, and for helping to make the night the success that I believe it was.

Glen, great to see you up and about again too.

The car, btw, was a '66, 289.

This type of photo is my next experiment.

Did you use a softbox or some sort of diffusion for the light? If so what did you use?
I've brought a cheap 128 LED light to try out. Hopefully it does the job.

We had a few softboxes and were using a variety of different light sources (High powered LED torch, SB-600 flash, LED lamp).

yeah you definitely need something to diffuse the light with - probably a homemade number would suffice, however Servaas has some good softboxes at some great prices, unfortunately he is out of stock until the end of september. Dragon image in sydney have them also but are more expensive.

probably just missed the best tute...

http://www.dslrusers.com/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=37005

but can see the results here (typically a softbox 60cmx60cm with LED):

or similar but on a plane here (60cmx60cm softbox and SB-600):

Realistically it is not that hard, a decent LED torch and softbox and your away. Some trial and error and you will quickly work out what works for you and your gear, try on your car or similar.

I think Gerry has said it all.

I would strongly recommend a way of getting BULB from your camera. Gives you heaps of time to muck around rather than be limited by 30 seconds.

Brent Pearson is a Sydney photographer and has some tutorials on light painting on his blog site here, or you can buy his ebook (a great intro to light painting generally, with a focus on land/seascape light painting) here. He is looking for expressions of interest in running a night photography course at the moment - details on his blog here.

My reaction was made n the evening of the shoot, when I encouraged everyone to post their similar images into this one thread.
