Hi there,

Got myself 2 flash heads 110W and associated equipment from sirch55 on Friday. Here are the first couple of shots I took today with the setup. I used 1 light about 1 meter from the right hand side with a white reflector umbrella. I also used a cream coloured sheet as backdrop and should have used a black one behind the Camera got some ugly reflections in his eyes from the furniture in the room. :nono:
I’ve actually tried to get more shadows on the left hand side of his face, something I can work on next time. :)
Both shot at ISO 100; 1/125; f/4.0

Maybe someone here has got some good tips for setups.
P.S.
Thanks Chris

The soft light suits this image.

If you want to get more shadows you can get the light closer to the child. (it's even mnore effective with a softbox as the spill is much less) You may need to reduce fill by moving the light coloured background away from the subject. However, this means you need to light it seperately.

Watch that white balance. I think it may be a tad warm.

Very much so, Craig.

One of the tricks to this type of shooting is to remember that your lighting is constant. That means exposure is constant. And wb is constant, too.

Set it once, and (as long as you don't change anything in your setup) forget it.

Glad to see that you put the lights to a really good first use Craig.
