You definitely caught the action there Jethro. The guy on the ground doesn't appear to be enjoying things at that point in time.

ps you may want to bring the quality down a bit, that photo is 772 KB, best to keep posted photos under 200 kb and preferably around 100 kb. Even on broadband that was a slow photo to download. I could print from the quality that is posted at.

Looks like it was fun... I remember when I was a kid playing footy, I could cound the "stop" marks all over me when I'd soak in a bath after the game... Brings back memories...

Cheers,
Mudder

jethro nice picture. I have also been taking a few pictures at sporting events. I am far from being an expert. But IMHO one thing that I have learn't is that the best action shots contain one or two players. And it is the facial expressions that really make the shots. Maybe cropping the shot would add to the drama.

I love sports photography.
This is not a bad effort, but...
although you have caught some good action, No 4 in the foreground is obscuring a lot of it
in sports photography, one of the real tests is background - here we have orange traffic cones and parked cars. Perhaps a tighter crop around the action would help.

Well done on capturing a decisive moment, but a change of angle and/or a much shorter DOF will help next time. :)
