I am now the very happy owner of a AI 135mm f/2.8 thanks to MATT. I received the lens this morning and managed to get out and take a few pics with it today (on the D60 - so no metering). Here is one that I really liked and wanted to share with everyone...Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Very nice.

I think it would help if you have enough tonal room in the image to hold back the brightness of the fingers a bit. Where they are is good but the eye tends to go the the brightest place so I think they compete a bit tonally with the face and eye.

Murray

I quite like as it is.

If you were to try something, one could do BW and as murray said, try to emphasise the eyes more ...

Now that you mention the brightness in the fingers I have had a play and hope that this will help.

try switching your DNS settings to OpenDNS...not sure why, but my TPG connection has trouble with my own website a lot and I find using OpenDNS fixes things. I am loving this lens!

Well there is a B&W coming up...hold on!!! Not sure as to how to emphasis the eyes more though. Thanks Surenj

Thanks Chris!! I think my 50mm f/1.8 is going to have a bit of competition!

Here is a rework...B&W (desaturation then brightness/contrast in Capture NX2) with the fingers pulled back a bit (Capture NX2).

Let me know what you all think!

I like the first image. My eyes were drawn to the in-focus area of the image rather than the brightest part. Maybe that's more a reflection of me :) I think you have nailed this image perfectly.

Looks like you have got a nice new creative tool there and you know how to use it.

Actually, it occurs to me that for the b&w one, but not for the colour one, it might help to crop in just a tiny bit from the top. The difference is because the forehead is less tonally prominent in the b&w.
