Too dark?

This is an image I've struggled with. It was taken directly into the sun with my 10.5 fisheye lens so the foregorund buildings etc are quite dark (and I like that). The challenge for me was getting sufficient detail in the foreground to maintain interest. I'd be interested in your opinions. You can see a larger version by clicking the image.

Thanks in advance.

I really like this image Peter but found that when I scrolled the page so that the top left and right intrusions were removed it became a better visual image.

Thanks Chris. This is a different shot, but with the tighter crop.

Peter, I think this last installsment is a huge improvement over all. It is a beautifull, if stark image.

Looks good.

Perhaps take a brighter shot and use the gradient tool in Lightroom to darker the upper part while keeping a bit of light in the lower part.

I like these Peter - both of them :)

I think they work really well as B&W's. The dark detail offsets well with the massively blown sky (knowing you, that must have been really hard for you to deal with - I'm impressed they didn't get deleted on camera! ;) ).

Hi Stubsy was the image a raw file?? or just use photoshop and layers to lighten the areas you are interested in??

Jim

Feel free. And to answer your other question - it's a raw file and was processed in both PSCS and Lightroom using the Silver Efex Pro plugin. This is the original of the last shot before I tinkered with it:

Stubbsy - the b&w rework/crop is a fanastic image! I really like this. Strong and bold. Good suggestion by Chris.

I quite like the original...maybe with a bit more detail on shadow side of the building. But you have done a marvelous job of making something out of the ordinary.
