Two very different shots from the weekend. To see either larger just click the pic.

For this shoot my intention was to take my 70-200 VR lens to get some nice close shots of the hangdliders, but stupid me left it at home so I was restricted to the 28-70. This first image is the closest I could get which annoyed me greatly. That said I like the simplicity of this image




This second shot is one I'd never have managed without Gerry showing me one of his on the day and telling me where he went to get it (thanks Gerry). This one was taken with my 17-35 lens.

Peter, I have to admit that, that hang glider is the best I have seen (as a whole shot) so far from this meet.

Great to see more pictures, and yes I am very envious about not being able to get out there. PS I didnt know you had a 17-35mm.

The hang glider alone would have been boring from that distance, but the clouds conspire to make this an interesting image.

I wonder whether the coastal road shot would work better from a higher vantage point, so that the snaking of the road along the coastline would come out better. This may not be possible of course. As shot the road seems to end abruptly and leaves the viewer's eye to the remote cliffs. I still like the shot for the dramatic perspective and detail in the shoreline.

There was no way to get higher, but I have some fisheye shots that certainly show the full span of the bridge and more of the snaking road. They can be found HERE

well...depending on how keen ya are , i reckon you could get a good 2-5 metres up that rock face just before the rock fall fence But, looking at the large chunks of rock on the old road, not something I would recommend...

I like the second shot, a very nicely exposed image, not an easy task on the day and more importantly at 12 noon...

I agree Gerry - this shows the dynamic range of the D300 in full play.

it is had to pick a favourite out ot these outstanding images...... wish I was there... will happen soon as I am moving yet again, to the Central Coast, to be closer to Sydney
