Akademos Rally 2009Taken yesterday at the Akademos Rally - Round 6 of the Victorian Rally Championship. Tried no.1 and 3 for something different. Only the second time I've shot at a rally and love it, would love to get accreditation one day! C+C welcome.
Cheers Craig!

Re: Akademos Rally 2009fantastic series of shots good work
Re: Akademos Rally 2009the first two are particularly great at showing the movment! Great shots.
Re: Akademos Rally 2009Well done. We have never shot a rally and would like to one time. Looks like you had a blast.

Re: Akademos Rally 2009Your panning technique seems exemplary to me. These have a great sense of movement, especially #1 and #3, but I feel the viewpoint could be improved. I think you need to get down lower. Have a look at the photographer in #2. The low angle he is getting by crouching down would produce a more dynamic shot IMO. Mind you, I have never shot a rally & am unlikely to, so feel free to ignore this.
Other comments: #1 could possibly have benefited from some fill flash to control the shadows & if the car was more towards the left, it would have had a more dynamic "driving into the frame" look rather than the parked slot-car feel i get now. #2, I know what's going on, but again I get the feel of the camera driving out of the frame. Perhaps crop at the barrier pole on the RHS #3. For me this is the pick of them. It has a great dynamic feel. Perhaps the car a little further right in frame. #4 The whites seem a little blown to me. Can you drag it back a little in PP? (Did you shoot RAW?) Aslo I find the flag(?) growing out of the top of the car a tad distracting. Perhaps clone it out. Greg
It's easy to be good... when there is nothing else to do
Re: Akademos Rally 2009
Thanks very much for the feedback, much appreciated. Shot number 2 I would have cropped, but decided to post the original, number 3 I completely agree with you, shooting white cars is something I need to learn to shoot better. The photos are shot in JPEG. I am a spectator only shooter at the moment...so I couldn't get in the low positions that I would have liked too, however down the track I'd like to get into it more....but again thank you very much for the feedback! Cheers Craig!
