I must apologise for the delay of this post, but I have struggled to find the time and persistance to actually process these photos from the Sublime Point dawn shoot from last Sunday (many thanks to Greg for organising...and Andrew for turning up!). But here are a few of my images. Comments will be greatly appreciated (esp since I dont usually process this much).

Pano...both stitched in AutoPanoPro...coverted to JPG using CS2...colour, saturatio, warmth adjusted and dust bunnies removed in Capture NX2... (does anyone know why AutoPanoPro 16-bit TIFF is not readable in Capture NX2?)




HDR...both tone mapped in PhotoMatix...colour and exposure adjusted in Capture NX2 (and dust bunnies removed)

Cameron, nice to see that you are expanding your post processing

The first two are comparable to the other photos we have already seen. They are little bit hazy which reduces the contrast and you can easily get rid of that using curves and highpass. Also the blacks don't look dark black. [I do realise that both of us have uncalibrated monitors! ]

I really like the last one [surreal looking] but despite the large aperture the DOF field seems to be not covering the whole photo. How about cropping the bottom 15% and top 5% ? perhaps selective sharpening the background somewhat.

I know what you mean with the haze. I cant claim to quite understand what you mean, do you mind grabbing the file (click through for a 5000pxl image) and demonstrating. I really should learn to work photochop better.

With the last, I think I may experiment with a bit of a crop, more likely about 20% off the bottom to get rid of the out of focus rock. I like the cloud band up the top. If I get around to doing so then I will repost.

Ditto, so make sure you post here & explain fully in triplicate. Preferably in terms a preschooler can understand - I am entering my second (or is it third?) childhood!

Cameron, I quite like the OOF rock. If I scroll-crop the photo loses a lot of its three dimesionality.

That is some hard conditions to work with there cam,

My pick is the second image, seems to reflect the scene better, however maybe a little extra tweaking might also help, maybe adjusting the exposure on the far right image, this one seems a bit brighter than the rest.

Anyway I had a crack at your image, not much of an impovement but hey...

 ROFL Gerry, it was nice being up there, but the conditions were not great for photos. I do like what you have done with the image though

I like the 3rd Cameron. Not the typical pp for this scene, very foreboding as well.
