Nice series...but it's the last one that catches my eye. It's so 3D! and whimsical....just love it!

Lovely. You've captured their age perfectly.

You have done an amazing job, I can almost feel the textures and the colours match the mood perfectly.

Those are some great shots, excellent and appropriate compositions, the PP treatment works very well to boot, speaking of which, any hints to exactly what you did?

I could really see the first two framed or as greeting cards and they would suit sale at the craft markets - Know that's not your thing but they are something many people would enjoy - beautiful clarity, DOF and attention to detail. The desat suits perfectly as does the framing and the light exposure are spot on . Interesting and enjoyable to look at . The other two , while well executed, don't have the same level as punch for me .
Really like the variety of work you are exploring

PP was a litle de sat, new layer converted to mono then tinted and adjusted the opacity so that some of the original colour is still there. Normally I dont do much PP like this but on occasion when I feel the subject may benefit then I have a little play. Also these were shot with two strobes.

Beautiful series - but I particularly like the first one - great framing and colour - would be a fantastic poster or postcard !!

Glad you like them, they were all shot with the 17mm-40mm on the 1DMK111

Whoa! Brilliant indeed. The textures are so well captured. I could feel the rust!!

Did you shoot these in daylight? how did you use your strobes? I can only see one bare strobe light at play although you mention more than one.

Yup these were shot in daylight mid morning. One strobe on the camera and the other was being held either by my daughter or clamped. Both strobes had soften diffusers on them and was shooting at 1 to 1 ratio. When I use flash I do not like it to be obvious so they are dialled down to just provide a slight bit of pop or catch/create a highlight or two. They were both in ETTL mode, with overide from the camera body - the 1DMK111 has a nice and very quick way of doing this - although to be honest the nikon cls system gives you far greater flexibility. With the canon system you have to buy an extra strobe to utilise remote control or the STE2 which does not work well outdoors in bright light. The new canon 7D does have built in flash control from the body so they are at least realising the need to implement this across the range.

Thanks for the flash information Shane. It's most useful indeed.

Yeah finally! Can't wait to get my hands on one. Then I could use two 430EX's off camera without extra radio transmitters.
