Tom and I have returned from our 2 month long overseas adventure and now have roughly 30,000 pics to sort through... promise not to put them all on here hehe!!

Here's my first small attempt at HDR, handheld, 3 shot bracketing.

Bar a little haloing these are very subtle HDRs which suits quite well. The last one has the best composition. I realise that it's hard to exclude people, vehicles, streetlights etc etc when photographing this.

Do you have any wideangles showing the collosal nature of this structure?

great to see you travelling
the HDR attempt is good
just a creative footnote when you backlight things try to get some of the sun in and you will get a nice nostalgic flare

I think a ultra wide angle would have been nice here. I think the HDR style has worked very well, I would not have picked it to be HDR image, they all look quite natural. As mentioned the last image is a standout for me due to the composition, but I am left wanting more field of view.

With 30,000 clicks I am expecting a few more in the coming weeks

Lookign at the first image again, I think gettign some more light out of the shadows would be great, i had a crack with your redbubble version, let me know if you want it removed etc...

Hey everyone, thanks for the great feedback....

biggerry.... thanks for taking the time to play and tweak, it looks awesome.... can you tell me what you did? I would love to try and replicate!!!

I have got some photos that show the whole colosseum that hopefully shows it's size. It's an amazing place.

1) Level and curves - or - d-lighting in capture NX to adjust the light in the shadows
2) Adjust the colour cast to bring it back from looking like sydney sandstone to something a little cooler..
3) A little contrast adjustment, mainly to counteract the levels/curves adjustment which can (in some cases) leave it looking washed out.
4) Add flare effect, I just did that in GIMP, you could probably do the same in photochop but I am not sure! in GIMP it is the under, 'filters' -> 'light effects' ->'FlareFX'

Nice effect Gerry. I was thinking exactly the same thing! FYI PS has a similar lens flare filter.

I think yours is better too, but I'm happy that I found out how to add that effect and will continue to play :-) Thanks again. Playing in PS is way more fun than working :-)
