Gerry,

These are all very good, but the third and fourth are simply outstanding. Beautiful composition and isolation of the subject in the third, and wonderful composition and conversion in the last.

Really nice, great variety well done .
I have a preference for the daisies and lilly - no particular reason just really like it (may also be because I usually associate these type of shots with a macro so well done for using the 50)

The Sth Aussies didn't finish until 1:30 this morning - I haven't even looked at my shots yet and as a couple of the others have a long drive home (Whyalla & Broken Hill) ..it may be a while before you see the SA day posted
Have fun

Good to hear that this still went ahead! We will need to vote on the best one from Sydney to compete with the Adelaide best.

Gerry, brilliant 4#!

Where abouts is that bridge? I don't think I've seen that one before. Nice symmetry there.

The 1# is very post card shot and has a nice dynamic composition.

#3 perhaps get rid of the residual green leaves on the top.

Very nice photos. I would try to get rid of the distracting greenery in the background of the 3rd picture.

Gerry, Zafra does have a point. #3 mite be a BW candidate as well.

Bit of an extreme version

Sorry I couldn't make it to the meet up
but in the spirit of things I only used my fifty for the day... so if that is enough here is my contribution to Sydney's entry :)

About to enter the church "Epson RD-1" "Jupiter-3 50mm 1.5" @ f5.6 1/250 ISO200

I'll be honest, i really struggled with the 50, its in a range that does not particularly work for me, (I find the 28mm on the D80 is much more usuable) that was one reason why i wanted to get out and do this..also to force myself to use it i took only that lens. I would love to have a go with the 50 on a FX camera, i think it would gel alot better for me.

The other issue I had, particulary on this day was focus, alot of my images were OOF, i suspect mainly due to me getting too close or using a slow shutter speed. Anyways...next time..

distracting greenery in the background of the 3rd picture.

yeah, I have updated the image to darken the areas where the leaves were poking thru - I guess i had in my mind to just have enough leaf to compliment the flower poking out of the blackness - i really worked hard on getting this image right straight out of the camera but looking at the rework it does look better purely isolated in the black.

wonderful composition and conversion in the last

one of those shots where I had no hope of getting the car in the frame, so i thought the only other way to convey this beastie was to get the logo in!

for the daisies and lilly - no particular reason just really like it

good enough reason for me

Where abouts is that bridge? I don't think I've seen that one before. Nice symmetry there.

again this image shows how i struggled - i could not get far enough back to get the whole bridge in, so i pano'ed it  I also find the image a bit bland.

The brigde is located in the little swamp lands (Lauchlan swamp from memory), just north from the little coffee/lunch stand.

#3 mite be a BW candidate as well.

I tried that, but the loss of that yellow removes the drawcard in my opinion.

Bit of an extreme version

ya know what, thats what it felt like there on that day, hot and dry..its almost got a IR feel too it - i actually don't mind that rework

I agree about bland. It's the weakest of the bunch.

Thanks for pointing out the location, I need to check it out when I go for a wonder next time.

No matter what this equipment might be, I wonder what the guy in the background is gazing at?

All worthy of a portfolio Gerry. Love #4 classic conversion, composition that really suits the subject, even down to the semi blown highlight in the background to offset the hood emblem
cheers

Biggerry, I believe your work has paid off with the 3rd picture. I like this version more because there are no distracting elements.
By the way, I also like the new autum colours of the bridge and landscape, but I prefer the original because it looks more natural to my eyes.
I hope you don't take offense, but you can improve the picture with the bride by getting rid of the gentleman behind her. He appears to be looking down on her with a disaproving attitude.

Yes thats the one and my lens is a 1964 Russian copy of a 1932 German Carl Zeiss sonnar lens

I'll have the camera at our Christmas shoot/dinner on the 12th Dec for those that are interested
