Redhead Sunrise (beach that is)

Tried Friday morning at the horse track, to try and get the horses training in the mist as the sun came up. Only one word described it - Fail.

So went to Redhead beach on Saturday and had a bit more luck.
Not brilliant shots, but satisfying to get something.

What are your thoughts, what could be improved, small and large?
(note from day, remember when you have switched off autofocus and the camera is no longer autofocusing!)

not much happening so stuck a torch in the rock

And when the sun finally poked out from behind the cloud

and just getting reflection

The #1 is the strongest. It doesn't need a torch though. How long was the exposure? You could have used the torch to light paint the rocks in the foreground.

I am not convinced about the last two.

hth.

I like the colours in #2, but the image seems to be lacking focus (not as in it's blurred, but as in the image doesn't have an object to focus on).

thanks
The first shots is 30 seconds

The other two shots are with manual focus, which I forgot I had switched to, and yes are focused a touch close!

If you go earlier to the same spot in the #1 and lightpaint for 60 seconds, I reckon you could get a very nice print out of it! The greens on the rocks are great.

:agree:

witched off autofocus and the camera is no longer autofocusing

lol, yep done that always the thought ' thats funny whys it blurry again' before it clicks..

I am buck the trend here and say the 2nd image the better of the 3, it has more evenly and clearly defined thirds with some very nice tones over them, the rock an dthe sun compete a bit, but i caould live with that, I think just a bit of PP to get a tad more light + contrast + saturation - not to much, just a touch, would help imo.

the first is my favourite....and i love the star that the torch has added to the image giving it another dimension.
