Hi, this is my first attempt at selective colouring....used a very simple technique to begin with. Would like some thoughts and feedback as I am very new to this.
This is my pick of the bunch!
Liked the Aussie flag is this one.
Just a flower...

I personally like your first, it is subtle and at first you don't realise the technique has been applied, it looks very natural

What Glen said.
This sort of technique looks cool the first time that you try it, but it can become very tiresome very quickly. You need to be very selective about when you use selective colour, and I believe keep it minimalist and very subtle. That's why it works very well in the first.
In the second one, it looks to me as if you've taken the "I have a hammer, and every problem is a nail" approach. It doesn't work for me in this one at all.

First one is a great use of selective color to attract attention to the subject which may otherwise be lost.
The other two are not working for me.
with Gary and Glen.

In general, I don't like selective colour. I find it is rare that it works well.
With that disclosure out of the way, I do quite like #1 here. I think the key to the success for the selective colour is the subtly, that as has been said is probably missing from #2 and #3.
I think #1 is also just a great shot compositionally, and in particular because of those engaging eyes!

I think the general principle is that if you try a technique, it's unlikely to work because techniques have no soul. If you have a vision of an image and sensitively use an appropriate technique to get there, maybe through a trial and error process, that may be another matter.
I agree that image #1 works well.

Thanks for all the feedback! Yeh like I said I love #1 its so natural and works really well...I think in the second one I need to blend the edges to make it more effective in terms on colour vs b&w.
