The first image is a winner, i really like it, very prOn style  Great pose, looks very natural and comfortable, the lightign is also very tidy and appropriate

The second image, the pose looks a bit strange to me, the third, I would be interested in seeing the unsat version, I am not convinced on the use of de-sat here...

Thanks Biggery for taking the time to comment on these images. I value the feedback. The desat was a bit of an experiment and I appreciate the critique.

An alternative pose from the shoot up against the tree is

I think the first "tree" photo is spoiled because the MM is looking off camera. If he were mirroring her look, I think it would be a cracker.
The second "tree" suffers from an unfortunate answer to the perennial question: "Does my bum look big in this?" I think it is the placement of his hand that does it.
Of the three original posts, I prefer the third, but would be happier if it were full sat, or monochrome. As has been mentioned, the desat look does not help the shot.

The first is the pick for me, nice lighting, good exposure and the pose looks very relaxed. The others are not doing it for me, not sure why. I do like desaturated images but somehow it is not working here.

I think the first portrait is the best of what is currently being shown. The subject looks relaxed and displays self-assurance and confidence.
While the other pictures are also well taken, they lack the engaging attitude or personality of the first sitter. So perhaps to make them justice, you should show them as a separate set - indoors vs outdoors portraits. It is very hard not to compare them when seen toguether. PS. I've just realised you used flash lights and possibly reflectors. This harsh light took away the natural look that should be present in outdoors photography.

"Does my bum look big in this?"

stripes man, stripes!!

strips should always be longitundinal (downards) not lateral (around the body) 'cause round stripes make you look fat !

It's the one thing i remember from the Asterix and Obelix cartoon... 8) 8)

on another side note, both models are wearign stripe shirts - round stripes at that

Yep, except in this case, same outfit, but one works & the other has a bum look (pun intended  ) That's why I think it is the positioning of the hand & possibly also the rotation of her body which is slightly different between the photos

Thanks for the discussion on these images guys. Its all valuable food for thought. The stripes were fairly hillarious because they both picked them independently. They caused me a few problems with Moire effects.

I was using single flash, diffused through diffuser panel, and also a soft box in a couple of images.
