Went and had a look at the new chimp enclosure at Monarto Zoo today. They have done a good job in providing lots of space and interesting activities for the Chimps and the viewing area is excellent.

Good work on all of these. The red face due to the reflection from the water melon is somewhat distracting in # 2.

Have you tried converting to B&W? I think these will look better still with a nice contrasty conversion.

And yet, I like it. It makes it interesting to look at. I also like the hands picture.

I also think the hands were a great idea. It just takes a different view of the whole 'chimp photo' thing. The reflection is weird but I also like it as it's unusual.

I actually like this; I think it makes this image.

The first three images are great. I think that you need more space to the left of the chimp in the fourth image to make it work better.

Virgs - 4 great shots from yesterday's shoot. The conditions were very trying, 27C clear blue sky and the Chimps were either hiding behind poles or under a canopy, seeking shade.

I would recommend going on a day when it is overcast and milder conditions.

FYI: in March/April 2010 we will see the arrival of four females Chimps from the Netherlands. So it would be best to leave your trip until May/June 2010 and by then they should be altogether, and better weather conditions for shooting The enclosure is brilliant, with plenty of protection form the elements and up to the same standard of elevated platforms found at the Giraffe's, Lion's, and Chettah's enclosure.

I deliberatley chose the red reflection of the wartermelon as it was so unusual. I will see if I have a shot with more space to the left on the last and see how it looks.

Nice shots Tony. Looks like the light was challenging. I like #3 the best.

I almost went down on Sunday as well. Unfortunately a Saturday night bottle of red interfered
