This was the result of the 10 strong pack of Wild Dog that had approached the Zebra mum and a newborn foal.
Fortunately mum is able to drop the remnants of the afterbirth by simply treading on it which gave them enough time to put some distance between themselves and the WD pack.
It could still have been a different story had the WD not dined out on an Impala the previous evening.
Shown here are some of the pack squabbling over the afterbirth.

this is frightening but awesome
it's amazing you captured such rare occurence
lucky zebra and foul, so i guess what the dogs got was the placenta or am i wrong

i like the 1st one best

do you find the 500mm fast enough to focus it seems like the dogs are running towards you i find focus hard shooting subjects coming at you in fast motion, unless you limit the focus range
brilliant technique.

Marc - I really do like the series of shots you have posted. For me #4 still the show: the chase is on, with great eye contact from the second dog to the first, with DOF spot on.

Only recently have I been fascinated by the African Painted Wild Dogs. By the way the pack have only one breeding pair, and they look after one another, and the bonus is the high pitch noise they make when excited.
