All excellent images, Wendell, and the last two are superb. I love the 2nd last where the seagull can almost be viewed as being in a deadly struggle with the machine!

That last image is awesome wendell, it really stands out from other images with just some machinery in it, the inclusion of the bird and sun flare take an oridninary photo into the next level...

It is not surprising that the last image won the comp. Well done.

Wendell

These shots are so different to others from the day and stand out strongly for that reason. The last image, which deservedly one the mini comp on the day, is a well crafted image. DO you care to share how you got the look to these in camera given the fine day and blue sky.

Peter, I would guess underexposure 1.5 stops, cloudy WB and polariser to darken the sky.

Hi peter just a reminder that at the begining of the thread i explained my technique
'1/1600 f11 under midday sun to get that ominous look'

stopping down the lens and shooting at a higher shutterspeed to further darken the midday sun effect produces the mentioned result
but the yellowish tones that make the dark blues sort of cyanish and brown tones even browner comes from my white balance setting of 5500

thanks everyone for the comments its much appreciated and thankyou peter for showing me a bewildering place
