Hi,
while processing a shot from the Cockatoo Island meet I went off in two different directions and ended up with two version I like. I just can't decide which of them I like better:
Building 10 in colour:
and in monochrome:
I like the mix of rust and patina tones in the first, but also the straight lines and stark appearance of the second. Which do you prefer?
Cheers
Steffen.

The mono is not quite there imo and does not necesarily add to the image, I like the colour one mainly due to the pascal colours that are present. To throw another option in the mix how about a de-sat version? Also I find the first alitle too cool.
Anyway heres my edited version of the colour which has a de-sat and warm up + a bit of distortion correction.
(let me know if you want it removed)

Hi Steffen
First of this is a very nice image and both ways work but I do prefer the colour version. As Gerry already mentioned the Pascal colours are very nice.
I like to see the sky just a touch desaturated.
Matt K. taught me a nice little "Contrast Pop" which does look good on this image as well (USM filter: amount 25, Radius 45, Threshold 0).

Colour for me (always,
), but in this case particularly so because of the subtle colours already present in the building. The contrast with the sky works better, too.

The colour works better. There are too much detail in the photograph as it is and the eyes see the red of the rust first and then wanders off to other parts. The black doesn't look as interesting as the colour one.

I have to agree as well, the colour one for me. Much more to explore visually

I've tried to get a good shot of building 10 over a number of visits and never quite pulled it off. I don't think you've managed it quite either . Regardless the colour is the better of these.

I guess we have to keep trying
The trick may be waiting for some more interesting light. In my case it was more or less overhead, and the right half of the building was in the shade…
Cheers
Steffen.
