Just got these guys yesterday. They seem to settled into my 35l freshwater planted fish tank very well. They are only 1.5cm in size!!! They are so cute!!!! I love them.

1/250, f22, ISO 800, off camera flash from above the tank set to 1/16 power, hand held.

1/200, f25, ISO 800, off camera flash from top left side of tank set to 1/32 power, hand held.

And… what colour will they turn when you cook them?

Oh, but great shots of an attractive critter!

Cheers

G'day Yung,

These are very brightly coloured for flushwater, oops freshwater. :P

The shots don't appear to be as sharp as they could be. I don't know if it is the ISO 800 or perhaps the small aperture is causing some diffraction. I'd be inclined to shoot at ISO 200 and around f/11 or f/16 (the flash should be powerful enough for that, just bump it up a bit).

Just eat 'em whole!

Great colour here; very dynamic. Please observe Andrew's suggestions, they will only help you get better images next time around.

Hi Andrew,

Most likely the ISO 800 making it not sharp.

I shot a few at f11 and f16.... very short dof......

I might have to shot frether away and then crop the image next time.

I get some more shot when they settled in and coloured up more.

idleowen, grow some fingernails and you have no problems.... LOL

But they pretty expensive dinner at $15 each!!! You need a few hundreds to just get you started!!!!

Ithought I had already replied to this post. Nice work with these, they are cute little buggers and I would agree that they look very sweet (to eat).

I am trying.... Give me about 6 months :)

They grow to 2cm max. When they berry (holding eggs) they take about 25-28 days to hatch. Then they will take about 3-4 months to get to 1.5cm. At this age they are ready to breed. I am hoping to get a few more from differet bloodlines so I can breed better grades of these shrimps.

Challenging photography and your results are quite good but could be a little bit sharper. Lucky you have them in a tank so you can try again
